Hello there!

Hello! I’m Zil, a self-taught visual artist, cognitive scientist, and nature enthusiast based in Ahmedabad, India.

I grew up in Gandhinagar, a place once wrapped in lush trees. Some of my earliest memories are of riding on my dad’s scooter, imagining hidden treasures deep within the woodlands we passed. Over time, I realized that the true treasure was never hidden, it was there all along, in the swaying canopies, birdsong, sunbeams, and countless small wonders we often overlook while living in a city.

As an adult, nature became a source of healing for my anxiety. Through many visits and meaningful encounters with the Himalayan wilderness, I found a sense of home in the natural world. Nature reminds me that even when life feels harsh and overwhelming, evolution has gifted us with the miracle of existence and the astonishing diversity of life.

Through my art, I want to help people slow down, rediscover the beauty hidden in plain sight, and perhaps find their own sense of home in nature’s magical diversity.

If my work speaks to you, feel free to collect a print, join my Awkward Cat Mail Club, or simply find a beautiful tree in your neighbourhood and admire it for a few extra seconds.
